The diameter of the wheel of a unicycle is 0.7m. Elaine tries to ride the unicycle and manages to go in a straight line for 32 full revolutions before falling off. How far did Elaine manage to cycle in metres? Give your answer rounded to 1 DP.

Explanation:

Wheel Diameter = 0.7m

Wheel Radius; 0.7m / 2 = 0.35m

For one rotation of the wheel, the distance travelled = circumference of the wheel.

Circumference = 2 x pi x radius

= 2 × π × r

= 2 × π × 0.35

= 2.1991148575 m

Elaine tries to ride the unicycle and manages to go in a straight line for 32 full revolutions

Distance travelled with 32 full revolutions of the wheel = 32 x 2.1991148575 m =

Distance in meters = 70.37167544m

Approximately = 70.4m

Therefore, Elaine managed to cycle 70.4metres
