a. Based on the parallel lines, the value of A is equal to 42°.

b. Based on the parallel lines, the value of A is equal to 117°.

In Mathematics and Geometry, corresponding angles is a theorem which states that corresponding angles are always congruent when the transversal intersects two parallel lines.

Part a.

By applying corresponding angles theorem to the two parallel lines, the 42 degrees would move downward and become congruent with angle A based on vertical angles theorem:

m∠A = 42°

Part b.

By applying corresponding angles theorem to the two parallel lines, the 117 degrees would move downward and become congruent with angle A based on vertical angles theorem:

m∠A = 117°
