Answer:Yosemite. On June 30, 1864, Senate Bill 203, the Yosemite Valley Grant Act, was approved by President Abraham Lincoln. Yosemite Valley and the nearby Mariposa Big Tree Grove were donated to California "upon the express conditions that the premises shall be held for public use, resort, and recreation," according to the law.
