A verb is a word that expresses an action, occurrence, or a state of being. It is a fundamental part of speech in any language. Verbs can be used to describe what someone or something does, as well as convey a sense of time, such as past, present, or future. Examples of verbs include "run," "eat," "sing," "write," "is," and "have."
Linking verbs connect the subject of a sentence to a subject complement, which could be a noun, pronoun, or adjective, providing more information about the subject. Examples include "seem," "become," "appear," and the state of being verbs mentioned earlier.
Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs) work alongside the main verb to convey additional information about the action or state.
