Explanation:

to solve this you have to first move 3/-8 to the other side and divide while keeping x on the same side.

now to divide you must flip over 3/8 and multiply so 21/4 x 8/3 ( negative sign cross off because there are two of them) so 3 and 21 cross off leaving 7 in the numerator 4 and 8 cross of leaving 2 in the numerator and then 7 and 2 get multiplied and you will get 14.
