The Pythagorean theorem equation is

{9}^(2) = {6}^(2) + {x}^(2)

and x is 6.71

How the value of x was determined.

The Pythagorean Theorem states that in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse (c) is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides (a) and (b).

{c}^(2) = {a}^(2) + {b}^(2)

From the figure

The angle opposite to side of measure 9 is 90⁰ as indicated in the figure.

{9}^(2) = {6}^(2) + {x}^(2)

81 = 36 + x²

x² = 81-36

x² = 45

x = √(45)

x = 6.708

x = 6.71 approximately.

The Pythagorean theorem equation is

{9}^(2) = {6}^(2) + {x}^(2)

and value of x is 6.71
