SOLUTION

The probability of the event is given by the formula

\text{Probability}=\frac{\text{required outcome }}{total\text{ oucome }}

From the question, we have

\begin{gathered} \text{Red}=31,\text{green}=46,\text{ yellow=23, Purple=25} \\ \text{Total blocks=31+46+23+25=125} \end{gathered}

The indicated probability is

P(\text{green or red )=Pr(gr}een)+Pr(red)

where

Pr(\text{green)}=\frac{\text{Number of gre}en}{total\text{ blocks }}=(46)/(125)

Also, we have

Pr(\text{red)}=\frac{\text{Number of red }}{total\text{ blocks }}=(31)/(125)

Hence

Pr(\text{green or red )=}(31)/(125)+(46)/(125)=(31+46)/(125)=(77)/(125)

Therefore

The Pr(green or red ) will be 77/125
