How do I find the area of different shapes? Is it the same exact as finding the area of a square?Please help! e.g. Trapezoid, Triangle, Octagon

Then area of each shape can be find ina different form. Each figure have a formula to find the area.

For example

Trapezoid:


A=(1)/(2)(B_1+B_2)\cdot h

Where B1 is one of the bases and B2 the other base. h is the vertical height.

Triangle:


A=(1)/(2)(b\cdot h)

b is the base and h is the vertical height.

Regular polygon:


A=(P\cdot a)/(2)

P is the perimeter of the regular polygon and a is the apothem (the distance for the center of the polygon to the mind-point of a side.
