Explanation:

given a polynomial f(x) divided by (x - a) , then the remainder is f(a)

given

f(x) = 2x³ - 3x² + 4x - 1 divided by (x - 3) , then remainder is f(3)

f(3) = 2(3)³ - 3(3)² + 4(3) - 1

= 2(27) - 3(9) + 12 - 1

= 54 - 27 + 11

= 27 + 11

= 38
