The soldiers of the governor struck Jesus with a reed on his head.
Where did the soldiers strike Jesus?
The governor's troops mocked Jesus during his crucifixion by giving him a crown of thorns and hitting him with a reed. This harsh conduct was a way to make fun of and embarrass someone. As they pretended to treat Jesus like a mock monarch, the soldiers held the reed as a makeshift scepter.
The biblical versions of the crucifixion record this occurrence. In particular, the Gospel of Matthew (27:27–31) recounts that the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and placed it on Jesus' head.
Therefore as part of their heinous mockery during the crucifixion, the governor's troops w.h.a.c.k.e.d Jesus on the head with the reed.
