Answer:

......x= the apples

y = bananas

On Monday, Sheldon bought 4 apples and 3 bananas for $1.45.

4x+3y=1.45

The next day, he returned to the same market and bought 3 apples and 4 bananas for $1.35.

3x+4y=1.35

system:

4x+3y=1.45

3x+4y=1.35

per combination

-3(4x+3y=1.45)

4(3x+4y=1.35)

-12x-9y=-4.35

12x+16y=5.4

--->7y=1.05

---> y = 0.15

1 banana costs $0.15

we calculate x :

4x+3y=1.45

4x+0.45=1.45

4x=1.45-0.45

x=0.25

1 apple costs $0.25
