The problem can be solved by first calculating the moles of carbon dioxide released from the reaction:
n(CO2) = (44g x 1mol/44g) = 1 mol
Next, we can find the number of moles of iron oxide present in the sample by considering the equation of the reaction and using the mole-to-mole ratio:
n(Fe2O3)/n(CO2) = (40g x 1mol/40g)/1mol = 1/1
The number of moles of iron oxide is then 1. We can then calculate the mass fraction of
