Both statements made about the company are valid.

To determine the validity of the claim, we examine the two statements;

Using the parameters given;

  • Total number of employees = 123

1.)

Evaluating the percentage earning

The percentage earning is more than £17 for over 30% of employees;

Number of employees earning more than £17 is :

  • 32 + 15 + 10 = 57

Now we have ;

Percentage = (57 / 123) × 100% = 46.34%

This means that, the first statement is True

2.)

Examining the statement made on Average hourly rate ;

  • (66 * 12)+(32 * 17)+(15 * 30)+(70 * 10) / 123

Now we have ;

Average hourly rate = 2486/ 123 = 20.21

This means , average hourly rate is over £20
