Both statements made are valid.

We can examine the two statements made thus ;

  • Total number of employees = 123

The percentage earning more than £17 ;

  • Number of employees earning more than £17 = 32 + 15 + 10 = 57

Now we have ;

(57 / 123) × 100% = 46.34% (Hence, the first statement is True).

2.)

Average hourly rate ;

  • (66*12)+(32*17)+(15*30)+(70*10) / 123

Now we have ;

2486 / 123 = 20.21

Hence, average hourly rate is over £20

Therefore, both statements are True.
