Explanation:
a) There is a property of an alternate angle. Think as if FQ and LQ are boundaries of countries, The angle that is on the other side of the boundary in the same direction is equal and only the nearest opposite boundary, not any other away from it and not behind so it is equal to 49 degrees.
b) The total angles on a straight line are always equal to 180% because if you add to right angles, it forms a straight line so if I divide the line into 10 pieces or more then all angles between the pieces will be equal to 180 degrees (see attached picture). So a and b form a straight angle which means that both are equal to 180 degrees so we can use algebra to find b.
a+b=180
a is given as 49 degrees,
49+b=180
b=180-49= 131 degrees.
c) It is the same case as before! The angles will equal 180 degrees so we can add them and solve them using algebra:
49+c=180
c=131
d) Another property worth remembering! If 2 angles are opposite to each other separated by a line or a common line they are equal because a and d are also straight lines which are equal to 180 degrees so d would be 131 degrees.
We got 3 131s and 2 49s. Noice!
