first of list factors of 10
1 10
2 5
-2 and 5 can add up to get -3
so you would place it into brackets
(y-2)(y+5)=0
now work with each bracket at a time:
y-2=0
y=2
and the next one:
y+5=0
y=-5
and here is what you get
y = -5, 2
