The expression with 4 different terms that is equal to
5x^(2) - 8 is
4x^(2) +1x^(2) -6-2

What expression ?

Any mathematical statement that consists of numbers, variables, and an arithmetic operation between them is called an expression or an algebraic expression. For instance, the formula 4m + 5 consists of the words 4m and 5, as well as the variable m, which is divided by the arithmetic symbol +.

Given that

5x^(2) - 8.

Then since we are looking for a way to express with 4 different terms that will still gives us the provided equation, then we can add
1x^2 and 4x^(2) this will still gives us
5x^(2) , we can also put -6-2 which will still gives us -8, then if we make the expression to be one we will have

4x^(2) +1x^(2) -6-2

collecting like terms

5x^(2) - 8.

Therefore, the expression has been with 4 different terms
