After colonists fought British soldiers at Concord's North Bridge, the tensions between the American colonists and the British escalated significantly.
What is the aftermath of this situation?
This event marked the beginning of open hostilities in the American Revolutionary War which had been simmering for some time. On the morning of April 19, 1775, British troops under the command of General Thomas Gage set out from Boston to confiscate and destroy colonial military supplies reportedly stored in Concord. The American minutemen assembled to oppose them.
The confrontation at Concord's North Bridge saw the American militia, outnumbered and initially hesitant and engaging the British regulars. A shot was fired, often referred to as the "shot heard 'round the world" and the battle commenced.
This demonstrated that the colonists were willing to use force to resist British authority and defend their rights. It also motivated other colonies to join the struggle for independence.
