In what way are the ancient Olympic ® Games and the modern version alike?

Our modern Olympics were rooted from the ancient versions, notably in the fact that it was a gathering of athletic competition and entertainment. Today, our Olympics are still very similar as athletic competitive events, but we have many more developed sports and activities now. Both were competitive events, centered around sport and entertainment.
