The table below shows Khalil's earnings on the job.

Time left bracket hours right bracketTime (hours) Earnings left bracket dollars right bracketEarnings (dollars)

1616 dollar sign, 337, point, 6, 0$337.60
2222 dollar sign, 464, point, 2, 0$464.20

The table of values indicates that the constant proportionality between earnings and time in hours, k, is 21.1

What is a proportional relationship; A proportional relationship is one in which the output value varies directly to the input value and is a multiple of the input value and a specified amount, known as the constant of proportionality.

Let x represent the input variable and let y represent the output variable, we get;

y = k·x

Where k is the constant of proportionality

k = y/x

The table of values can be presented as follows;

Time (Hours) Earnings (Dollars)

13 $274.30

16 $337.60

22 $464.20

The constant of proportionality can be found from the ratio of Khalil's earnings on the job to the duration he spends on the job

k = Earnings/Duration

Therefore;

k = 274.30/13

274.30/13 = 21.1

k = 21.1

Similarly

337.60/16 = 21.1

464.20/22 = 21.1

The constant of proportionality is; k = $21.1/hour
