(a) The value of angle B is determined as 42⁰.

(b) The value of angle C is determined as 48⁰

(c) The distance between the two houses is d = 53.8 m.

How to calculate the value of angle B, and angle C?

(a) The value of angle B is calculated by applying the following formula as shown below;

tan B = AC / AB

tan B = 36 / 40

tan B = 0.9

B = arc tan (0.9)

B = 42⁰

(b) The value of angle C is calculated by applying the following formula as shown below;

C + B = 90 (complementary angles)

C + 42 = 90

C = 90 - 42

C = 48⁰

(c) The distance between the two houses is calculated as follows;

d² = 40² + 36²

d² = 2,896

d = √2,896

d = 53.8 m
