What do you have if you take 2 apples from 5 apples?
If you have 5 apples and you take away 2 apples, you will have 3 apples remaining. Subtraction is the process of taking one number away from another

Sam has 2 apples already. If he buys 5 more, those would be added to his collection. 5+2=7 Sam has 7 apples
