Answer:

(this is probally not the right answer)

When I first saw this question my mind imediantly went to hills so here is my answer:

A lonely hill was standing all alone. The nearby mountains were covering the poor hill, so that no one could ever slide down on a cold winter day like most hills. However, a man heard a legend about a hill so great that the ancient warriors used the hill to fight off thier enimes, but has not been occupied since. So he went on a journey to find the hill, traveling through the mountains till he saw the hill in the distance. Then, he stopped, turned around, and went home. The poor hill watched sadly as he left, but his sadness insantly turned to joy when he came back with children! The lonely hill was never left alone again. The end!

(hill, slope, basicly the same thing lol)

(and yes, I thought of this story myself)

Answer:

Slope is found by determining the x and y value differenced between two points. The difference between the x values is the run, and the difference between y values is the rise.

If the y value goes down, then the rise is negative.

If the x value goes to the left, the run is negative.

The slope is calculated as rise/run, so if you have a negative rise, and a negative run, the slope will be positive.

The slope is the rate of change of the equation, and can be used to determine more points to extend a line on a graph.
