Answer:

y = - 5x - 28

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given the equation of the line

y = - 5x + 5 ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = - 5

Parallel lines have equal slopes , then

y = - 5x + c ← is the partial equation

to find c, substitute (- 5, - 3 ) for x and y in the partial equation

- 3 = - 5(- 5) + c = 25 + c ( subtract 25 from both sides )

- 28 = c

y = - 5x - 28 ← equation of parallel line
