To make x the formula we need to balance the equation. Firstly to do this we need to expand the brackets:
ax = b(c+x)
ax = bc + bx
Next we minus bx on both sides:
ax = bc + bx
-bx. -bx
ax - bx = bc
Using this, we now factorise ax - bx wich is equivalent to:
x(a - b) = bc
To get x by itself we must divide (a - b) on both sides:
x(a - b) = bc
÷(a-b). ÷(a-b)
In which we get x = bc / (a - b)!
Thats the answer: x = bc / (a - b)
Hope this helped!
