Solve the following equation: 2x – 4 = 4x +8. Make sure to not only solve the problem, but to list out the steps using academic vocabulary.

Answer: x = -6

Step 1: 2x = 4x+8+4
Step 2: 2x-4x = 12
Step 3: -2x = 12
Step 3: x = -6
