Y and x intercepts to the equation - 1/2x+y=-4

Answer: x = -8

y = -4

Explanation:

A trick I use to solve the x and y intercepts for standard form slope is to completely ignore the other side.

For example, if you were to try to find the y intercept in this equation you would just ignore the x side, or block it out with your finger.

Then, you only have to solve the equation: y = -4
And since y = -4 is already simplified, the y intercept is -4.

For the x intercept, we do the same thing.

1/2x = -4.

What can we multiply 1/2 by so it results in -4?

If you answered -8, you would be correct because 1/2 * -8 = -4

Therefore the x intercept would equal -8.

x = -8
