Lisa has a $60 gift card to spend on books. She is currently reading a series of mystery books. If each book that she wants to purchase costs $7.29 how many books can she buy with the gift card?

Explanation:

60=7.29b

(b variable is how many books)

60=7.29b

We need to get B by itself so we need to divide the 7.29 by itself. But we also have to do the same thing to each side, so 60/7.29 is the resulting problem. After running it through a calculator you get the answer 8.23, but since Lisa can't buy 23/100ths of a book, we can assume she can buy 8 books.
