Take 1/2 of the 'x' coefficient ( 5 ) ...square it (25) and add it and subtract it from the equation

x^2 + 10x + 25 ( - 25 - 24 ) Now you can reduce the first 3 elements to:

(x+5)^2 - 49 Done.
