We have:

9 and 2/7

= 8 + 1 and 2/7

= 8 + 7/7 + 2/7

= 8 + 9/7

= 8 and 9/7

⇒ (9 and 2/7) - (6 and 5/7)

= (8 and 9/7) - (6 and 5/7)

= 8 - 6 and 9/7 - 5/7

= 2 and 4/7

So (9 and 2/7) - (6 and 5/7) = 2 and 4/7
