The distance between the corresponding point on figure 2 is 3

Similar shapes have the same shape but may differ in size. Corresponding angles are equal, and corresponding sides are in proportion.

The ratio of corresponding sides is constant, known as the scale factor.

Figure 1 is similar to figure 2

length AD is similar to Length PS

Each box is 1 units

AC = 2 units

PR = 6 units

scale factor = 6/2 = 3

therefore, if length GH is 1 unit on fig 1 , then it will be 1 × 3 = 3 units on fig 2.
