Polygon A is dilated by a scale factor of 3, with the center of dilation at the origin, to create Polygon B. If the endpoints of segment BC in Polygon A are B(3,5) and C(5,10), what is the slope of segment BC in Polygon B? a) 3.3 b) 3.7 c) 4.2 d) 5.5

The slope of segment BC in polygon B is 7.5

The scale factor is the ratio of corresponding lengths in two similar figures. It defines how much one figure must be resized to obtain the other.

The scale factor preserves proportional relationships between corresponding sides and is crucial in geometry and scaling transformations.

Since the scale factor of A to B is 3, this means that slope of BC in B = 3 × slope of BC in A

slope BC in A = 10-5)/5-3 = 5/2 = 2.5

slope of BC in polygon B = 2.5 × 3 = 7.5
