8 and -14

Explanation:

x + y = -6; solve this for 'x' to get x = -y - 6

x = y + 22

x = -y - 6

since both expressions are equal to 'x' then we can set them equal to each other:

y + 22 = -y - 6

2y + 22 = -6

2y = -28

y = -14

Since we know value of 'y' we can substitute it to find 'x':
