-2y²+10y=9

Step 1: Subtract 9 from both sides.

-2y2+10y 9 = 9 − 9

−2y² + 10y − 9 = 0

For this equation: a=-2, b=10, c=-9

-2y²+10y+9 = 0

Step 2: Use quadratic formula with a=-2, b=10, c=-9.

y =-b±√b2-4ac/2a

y= -(10) (10)-4(-2) (-9) / 2(-2)

y = -10√28 -4

y = 5/2 + -1/2√7 or y = 1/2 + 1/2 √7

Answer:

y = 5/2 + √7 or y = 5/2 +1/2 +√7
