x+y=2

per substitution: x=(2-y)

replace x :

(2-y)y=-12

2y-y²=-12

-y²+2y+12=0

calculate delta

b²-4ac =2²-4(-1*12)= 52

delta = 52

(-b-vd)/2a =(-2-2V13)/-2=1+V13

(-b+Vd)/2a =(-2+2V13)/-2 = 1-V13

numbers (1+V13) , (1-V13)

we check

xy=-12

(1+V13)(1-V13)= 1-13=-12

x+y=2

(1+V13)+(1-V13) = 2
