The root of the equation are -0.5 , 1.5


\begin{gathered} x=-0.5,x=2.5 \\ (x+0.5)(x-2.5) \\ x^2-2.5x+0.5x-1.25 \\ x^2-2x-1.25 \end{gathered}

Therefore the function of x =


\begin{gathered} f(x)=x^2-2x-1.25 \\ f(3)=3^2-2(3)-1.25 \\ f(3)=9-6-1.25 \\ f(3)=1.75 \end{gathered}

Hence the correct value of f(3) = 1.75
