We see that the line crosses (0, -1) and (4, 0). We can use the slope formula - which is the difference of the y's over the difference of x's.

We get (-1 - 0) / (0 - 4). Evaluating gets us -1/-4 = 1/4 as our answer.

Alternatively, you could have remembered that slope is rise/run (rise over run) and saw that it runs 4 for every 1 you rise, hence 1/4.
