Answer: I did Parenthesis, I subtracted 10-2, that gave me 8. Next I did exponents, I multiplied 4 twice or to the 2nd power. That gave me 16. Then I multiplied 3 and 8 and that equals 24. After that the only thing left to do is add 16 and 24 which equals to 40. That's how I got my answer by using PEMDAS. I followed the order of operations even though I didn't have to use division.

Before we write 3 paragraphs, we need to solve the equation ourselves using the order of operations.

Order of Operations: Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction. (PEMDAS)

3 · (10 - 2) + 4²

3 · (8) + 4²

3 · (8) + 16

24 + 16

40

Finally, here's the prompt:

  • The requirements of the prompt are to show step-by-step how to solve the problem and to explain the order of operations in 3 paragraphs.

In order to solve the equation, we have to understand the order of operations, which is the order used in solving expressions. The order of operations are parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, adding, and finally subtracting. It's usually abbreviated to 'PEMDAS'.

The first step of solving the equation is solving what's in the parenthesis, which is 10 - 2. By subtracting, you should get 8. The second step is solving the exponents, which is 4 to the second power. to do that, we multiply 4 by itself, so we should get 16. Now, for the third step, we have to multiply 3 x 8 before we add 16 so we follow the order of operations. After multiplying 8 x 3, you should get 24.

Now, all that's left is to add 24 and 16. Our answer should be 40. That's how you solve the equation using order of operations. In this equation, we only used parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, and addition. Even though there was no division or subtracting (besides subtracting in parenthesis), we still follow the order of operations.
