why do writers and speakers use rhetorical appeals? how can you tell if the rhetorical appeal is effective?

Writers will use rhetorical appeals because that makes it more persuasive than not doing it. For a rhetorical appeal to be effective, the author must engage the reader with it. They have to decide how they are going to use a rhetorical appeal to make the reader understand and be persuaded to their side.
