Answer:

y = - x - 11

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

calculate the slope m using the slope formula

m =
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 7, - 4 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (- 5, - 6 )

substitute these values into the formula for m

m =
(-6-(-4))/(-5-(-7)) =
(-6+4)/(-5+7) =
(-2)/(2) = - 1 , then

y = - x + c ← is the partial equation

to find c, substitute either of the 2 points into the partial equation

using (- 5, - 6 ) for x and y in the partial equation

- 6 = - (- 5) + c = 5 + c ( subtract 5 from both sides )

- 11 = c

y = - x - 11 ← equation of line
