Answer:

Explanation:

Write an equation, in slope-intercept form, of a line that passes through (1, 4) and (3,10).

The equation written in slope-intercept form is

First, as you may know,

To find the slope from given points, you can use this formula

m(slope)=y2-y1/x2-x1

1- Now substitute

m(slope, which is ungiven)= 10-4/3-1

You will get 6/2 or 3

So the slope is 3

2- Now, to find b or the y-intercept, you can substitute the slope in one of the points.

I chose the first pair, (1,4)

Now substitute the x and y and the slope (which is 3) in the y=mx+b formula.

4=3(1)+b

4=3+b

-3 -3 (minus 3 from both sides to isolate x)

b=1

So the y-intercept or b is 1

3-substitute 3 as m and 1 as b in the slope-intercept equation, y=mx+b

y=3x+1 is the answer written in slope-intercept form
