Parentheses. Two ways you can remember this are. Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally( parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) as long as you go left to right for division and multiplication it does not matter if it is division or multiplication that goes first. Same applies to addition and subtraction. The other way is pemdas which is what most high school teachers use( parentheses, exponent, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction)

Final answer:

Parentheses come first in the order of operations in mathematics.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the order of operations, the calculation that comes first is Parentheses. This means that any calculations within parentheses should be done first. Once parentheses are taken care of, the next step is to perform Multiplication and Division from left to right. Finally, Addition and Subtraction are performed from left to right.
