Y=-2y-4 and y=1/2x-5

solve by systems of equations

1. Y = -4/3

2. 2x = 2y + 10

Explanation:

1. y =− 2y − 4

Step 1: Add 2y to both sides.

y + 2y = −2y − 4 + 2y

3y = −4

Step 2: Divide both sides by 3.

3y/3 = -4/3

y = -4/3

2. solve for x

y=1/2x-5

Step 1: Flip the equation.

1/2x−5=y

Step 2: Add 5 to both sides.

1/2x−5+5=y+5

1/2x=y+5

Step 3: Divide both sides by 1/2.

1/2x/1/2=y+5/1/2

x=2y+10
