y = (x + 2)(x + 3)

This is a quadratic equation which has at most two roots which are the values of x for which the equation is zero

Setting y = 0 gives us (x + 2)(x + 3) = 0
This means either x + 2 = 0 or x + 3 = 0

Setting x + 2 = 0 gives us x = -2
Setting x + 3 = 0 gives us x = -3
