A scale drawing of a rectangular park is 3 centimeters wide by 5cm long. The actual park is 100 meters long. What is the area of the actual park, in square yard?

Answer:

convert 100m into cm = 10,000cm

scale: 5/10,000=1/2000

real width: 3*2000 = 6000cm = 60m

real park area, in square metres: 100*60=6000m².

you can also calculate the actual area from the drawing area

drawing area = 5*3 =15cm²

real area in cm² :2000²*15=60000000cm²=6000m²
