area of the base and 24. A tailor bought a number of suits at a cost of sh.57, 600 from ken-suit wholesalers. Had he bought the same number of suits from Umoja wholesaler it would costed him sh 480 less per suit This would have enabled him to buy 4 extra suits for the same amount of money. Answer:

The no.of suits= 20

solution

Let the total no.of suit be X

cost of one suit= 57600/x

according to the question

(57600/x)-480= 57600/(x+4)

x2+4x-480= 0

x2+ (24+20)x-480=0

(x+24)(x-20)=0

either. or

x= -24. x= 20

rejected

hence the value of x=20
