Answer: y = -36, x = -4

Since the equation is written as y = 3x - 24 and there are two equations, we can substitute one equation into the other and solve like that.

9x = 3x - 24

6x = - 24

x = -4

Now that we know x is -4, we find y.

y = 9(-4)

y = -36

And we can use this to solve the last equation.

-36 = 3(-4) - 24

-36 = -12 - 24

-36 = -36
