substitute y = 0 into the equation and slve for x

0 = 2x + 2 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

- 2 = 2x ( divide both sides by 2 )

- 1 = x

the graph on the left crosses the x- axis between - 1 and 0 , not - 1

the graph on the right crosses the x- axis at - 1

The graph on the right is therefore graphed correctly
