Answer:

y = x-4

Explanation:

First find the slope

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

= ( -3 -1)/( 1 - 5)

= -4/-4

= 1

Then using slope intercept form

y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

y = 1x+b

Substitute one of the points in

1 = 5 +b

1-5 = b

-4 =b

y = x-4
