Why will the British colonies in North America decide to fight for their independence?

During this time the 13 original colonies were fueled with ideas of self enlightenment. This means they had new ideas of individualism. With the taxes the British imposed the colonist felt with no representation in parliament they should not be taxed. Hence the no taxation without representation, eventually the olive branch treaty was the colonist saying we don't want to fight, but have equal representation and treatment. The king instantly declined and that was a major pushing point towards the fight of independence.
